| Comments: | I was on the EPPERSON(DD-719)from 1971 - 1973. I remember the day before the cease-fire off the coast on Nam when we were barely missed by an anti-tank rocket while doing close in NGFS. Shortly thereafter the Lawe was shot at by 4 anti-tank rockets. What a day! |

Along the way we cut Mayport 1 in half, barely avoided the same to a whale, played tag with trawlers and endured a Beachjumper unit. Lot of good memories -- some funny and some not so funny. | Comments: | Served onboard 11/72 - 2/75, on the gunline and making night raids on North Vietnam 2 weeks after reporting aboard (18 y/o FA). Spent 2 miserable years in main control and aft engineroom before striking for HM. Later served as active reserve and did Great Lakes Cruise in '78 (during a period of broken service). Am now retired HMC(SW) after 20 years of active duty. I have very profound memories of my time onboard the "Willie C". |
